Let there be light!
You are just about finished decorating your dining room. You have the perfect table and complimentary chairs. The wall color is amazing and has created the exact mood you were after. Reality check….you still have not chosen a chandelier. What size, what finish, how low do I hang it? For this reason chandeliers are often the last item chosen. I wanted to share a more contemporary project with you and the awesome fixture that was the finishing touch. This fixture puts a different spin on this. With it hinged design, it can be made larger or smaller to suit you mood. With mini halogen bulbs it twinkles at night. Just a tip – always put dimmers on your chandelier and any recessed lights. You can always create the perfect mood with dimmers. At the end of the party when it’s time to clean up you can turn the lights all the way up to clean every nook and craney!
Dining room tables are usually about 30″ high. Dining room lighting should hang somewhere in the neighborhood of 30″-36″ above the table or 60″ to 66″ from the floor. If you’re really unsure, err towards a longer length which can be shortened on site if absolutely necessary. These are guidelines. There are no hard and fast rules and it is best to judge the height when hanging it. You also need to consider the size of your table and if there is any chance someone could hit their head getting up from the table. This is more likely to happen with rectangular tables. Always make sure you have enough chain or cable on hand.
