Items from the Andes

There is a website that I love to visit to find arts, crafts and accessories from around the world and it is called NOVICA. This website, run in association with National Geographic, has an abundance of wonderful products made by master artisans from around the world. Not only do you see a photo and description of the item but they also give you background information on the artists. This has given these artists a platform on which to share their talents with the global community. Part of their mission statement says:

“At the deepest essence of our philosophy, we want to create a bridge between you and the many talented artisans across the globe.”

As many of you may know, a devastating earthquake hit Peru on Wednesday, August 15th, and they experienced another one on Friday. I have received an email indicating the employees and families of that NOVICA office are safe but there is much structural damage and they are trying to locate several artists who lived near the epicenter. In the spirit of lending a helping hand, 10% of the purchase price of items from Novica Andes will be donated directly to affected artisans as well as to UNICEF’s relief work in Peru. So if you feel inclined to purchase something, now would be a great time!

Thanks for caring!
