A Marriage Made in Furniture History
Perhaps you have seen the names Charles and Ray Eames when flipping through a Design Within Reach catalog and wondered who they were. This immensely talented couple were responsible for major contributions in the world of furniture design, industrial design, art, graphic design, film and architecture. The pair married in 1941 and lived their lives in Los Angeles where each of them used their particular talents to form a dynamic duo.
Charles’ early background lie primarily in architecture; though his talents ran the gammat. Ray was an artist and filmaker with a keen eye. Although I’m not one to comment a great deal, I wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your blog – it is a refreshing mix of information and inspiration!
Your recent post on Globes struck a familiar chord with me – I’ve mentioned to my husband from time to time that we really ought to get ourselves a new one, since our antique one left the house with the kid! I used your links to locate and purchase our very own up-to-date globe. I can hardly wait to hold it in my hands – thanks for the nudge!
Keep it coming – it’s all good!
