I was writing an article for my newsletter, and I too was surprised at what I found online when researching decorative drapery hardware.

The recommendations I found were simply atrocious and straight out of the 80's! One example said to upgrade your drapery hardware by wrapping silk flowers around a closet pole! Another suggestion was to spray paint a PVC pipe and use that as your decorative drapery rod! That could be toxic by today's standards!

When the drapery hardware is skimpy, droopy and too skinny for a window, that's the number one sign that screams 'ready-made'! However, you can make any off-the-shelf, ready-made window treatment look 1000 times better, simply by choosing the right drapery rod for your window.
