I just trotted out to the garage with my recycling bin and as I work toward becoming a paperless office my bin is getting lighter and lighter! It feels good to support the planet by becoming more eco-conscious but sometimes that is not enough incentive to get us moving in the right direction. I think it’s important to set yourself up for success from the get go by creating a environment that supports good habits. This means an easy place to store your recyclables that fit seamlessly into your home and therefore becomes a part of your everyday routine. And there’s really no excuse because no matter what your style is, there’s a bin out there with your name on it.

The Container Store is selling this one for yard work but I think it would also be a great recycling bin for bottles and cans at parties. It holds a standard lawn bag and when you are done, it folds up for easy storage. $14.99

Even the finest castles have to find a spot for recyclables. This crushed stone and resin model would fit in seamlessly by the pool. On sale for $256.90

You can count on Viva Terra to take it to another level. Recycled barn wood is used to make a recycling bin. Now that's taking it full circle. $55

Simple Human makes such great products that are super simple and stylish. This trash/recycling combo opens easily with the foot pedal and has a slow-mo lid closing mechanism to keep it quiet. $179.99
Regarding paper recycling, it might help to cut down what is coming into your home by checking out these websites:
Catalog Choice - Choose the catalogs you want and ditch others.
41 Pounds – The average adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail each year. Their service stops 80-95% of unwanted catalogs and junk mail for you. They’ll contact dozens of companies on your behalf for $41 for five years.
We have to think in a whole new mind-set as we move to becoming more eco-friendly but it is going to pay off in the long run with healthier habits and a cleaner planet. If you want to learn more about eco-friendly furnishings, please visit my friend Jennae at Green Your Decor!
