Are you getting the itch to buy some paint and then tackle the walls this weekend? I know, it’s tempting. While a new paint color brings a whole new point of view, it also brings some decorating decisions, so it’s a good idea to craft a plan of attack. One of the most important things I do with my clients is have them look at photos of rooms and show me what they like. After looking online and through tons of magazines and books, certain things bubble to the top and the big one is color. One of the most important and obvious elements of design is choosing your color palette, so take your time and let me help you along with today’s fantastic giveaway!

I have two copies of the visually delicious book, The Way We Live With Color, and you are definitely going to want one. The book is co-authored by two design geniuses: Stafford Cliff was formerly the Creative Director of Design at the Conran Design Group in London and Gilles de Chabaneix was one of France’s most prominent design and lifestyle photographers. Together they created a book that is pure inspiration. It is divided in 5 main sections that take you on a trip in and out of gorgeous homes around the world. Starting with a monochromatic palette and then moving through blues, reds, yellows and greens and finally ending with a focus on the colors derived from natural materials such as wood and stone.
They show you how you can bring color into your home by painting the walls, using accessories and carefully placing critical elements. It also aquaints you with how people around the world relate to color and may give you some courage to go with that bold hue you have been yearning for.

My favorite vendor for “Tabletop & Entertaining” is also Pier 1 Imports! I just love the Japanese dinner plates they carry, as well as the small appetizer size flatware. I also love their tablecloths. Great place to shop for all kinds of neat items.

Ikea is my favorite. How I wish their stores were closer to me in Ohio. I happened to hit their store in Illinois a few years ago and I didn’t bring enough money nor a bigger SUV for all the things I wanted. I did manage to score a set of great animated prints and frames that are on the wall in my bedroom that I adore.

My favorite place to visit and shop ideas is for Mercy’s sake, inc. Hillary James is truly inspirational with her darling nurseries and kid’s rooms decor ideas with her colorful whimsical designs both on furniture, as well as with accesories.

Hmmm, difficult choice. I’m especially fond of Design Within Reach and Ballard Designs. (But I love Etsy for wonderful and unique creations!) I could REALLY use this book: I am crazy about color – but ridiculously timid about using it – especially when it comes to interior and exterior house painting! Thanks!
