The Gift of Giving
One of my favorite quotes, from William Henry Drummond, an Irish born Canadian poet, goes like this, “There is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving.” You know what? Mr. William Henry Drummond was right! Thanks to our many wonderful sponsors whom have supported both our monthly giveaways and our in-post giveaways, I couldn’t be any happier!
Or, at least I though I couldn’t! That was before Layal Gebrane, the winner of our previous monthly giveaway, the Bergamo Table Lamp, asked that in lieu of sending her the winning prize, would I consider making a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation. For those not familiar, the Make A Wish Foundation grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Their mission statement reads, “We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.”
…
This was a no brainer! I honored Layal’s request and made a cash donation on her behalf to the Make A Wish Foundation. I can only hope that Layal’s unselfish act of kindness and generosity is rewarded tenfold.
Regarding Vava, I am happy to report that she was declared cancer free just before her wish came true! Wish granters crafted an itinerary for her first transatlantic flight from Seattle, which included a stay at the heart of the city, trips to museums and a glimpse of the countryside. She was also lucky enough to sample the famous French culinary flair. Hooray for Vava!
Have a great weekend everybody!

Thanks for sharing, Denee. Our winner, Layal, came up with the idea. We are very grateful when our readers participate because it helps us move in new and positive directions!
